Community Service and Support

One of the major duties and responsibilities of the college is related to providing technical and non-technical support and participation in developmental activities for the community it is dwelling in.

Despite the limitations pertaining to financial capabilities, the college has been engaged in the following major technical and professional community development endeavors. Accordingly,

  • Extension division was started in all the major departments (Cooperative Accounting and Management, Animal Health, Animal Production, Plant Science, Natural Resource Management and Water Resource and Irrigation) to quench the thirst of those who need to join the agriculture profession in a level-based training.
  • About 653 farmers have been trained on crop production
  • About 671 women have been trained on poultry production and health.
  • Besides, training on Nutrition has also been offered for trainees drawn from the region.
  • Four genetically improved calves (cross breed) have been donated to farmers.

Besides, technical support for the surrounding community has always been extended as requested by private agricultural practitioners, households and cooperatives.

With respect to non-technical community participation, the college has always been open to extend its support for the needy. In this regard,

  • 106 Blankets and pairs of sheets have been distributed to the destitute and the disabled.
  • 105 packs of exercise books and 42 packet of pens have been donated to selected families of the Kalu Woreda, Kebele 034 residents.
  • New as well as worn-out clothes were also given to the needy
  • Financial and material support was provided for war and internally displaced people around
  • Boarding service has also been provided for the military personnel depending on the situation at hand.
  • Technical, administrative and material support was also provided to strengthen the Wollo-Kombolcha Football Club.

On top of these, the college has always been center for hosting various governmental and non-governmental organizations’ meetings, trainings, most of which are free of charge in a bid to strengthen ties to the external community. These even include boarding along with a cafeteria service.
